Thanks for the info .I may try both CDM(if they still are alive) and Fantrax. It's pretty easy to do. The player salaries at both places are similar............usually slightly higher at Fantrax.

Thanks Goh, that's good news! Underdog, the Gold Roto game last year at Fantrax was a $280 all-inclusive entry fee, with league prizes of $3000 for 1st, $1500 for 2nd and I think $750 for 3rd. Great payouts and tough competition.

Fantrax Gold Roto paid $6,000 per league (3K to each winner) at $279--so about half the cost of running a CDM Roto team...

I don't think you'll get many answers from CDM if you write - they basically sent me the same wording as posted on the BBS to my inquiries (kind of like not really answering any question) But I won't criticize them for that cause clearly legally it's the thing they're supposed to do, I'm guessing. What was interesting is that for a moment (did anyone notice this?) Beckett somehow managed to post up on the suggestions board basically a 'I think you owe your loyal customers a bit of an explanation,' to paraphrase. I don't know how he did that, but it was pulled down pretty soon after that. Either way, guess we wait for Friday for the prizes, and then mid-January to see if they do indeed open up things to baseball. I hope they do - if only one game exists somehow, I'd want it to be baseball.

I sure hope CDM runs the games in 2016. Played there every year since 2003. The fact they eliminated BBS posting privileges makes me wonder if deal is in the works & CDM is being sold. In January 2011 when Fanball/CDM announced they were terminating their games, they allowed us BBS posters to post for a couple weeks and there was similar chatter about potential alternate fantasy BB sites like Fantrax, Fantistics, Baseball Guns & Money (or something like that). By the time the new Charlie CDM came about in March 2011, they may have lost some customers due to the BBS chatter that Fanball allowed. So perhaps now IF a new CDM deal is in the works, they wanted to stop any chatter of alternate fantasy BB sites and not lose more customers for the new buyer. Otherwise I can't think of any good reason they would eliminate BBS posting privileges if they were just going out of business. Hope springs eternal !

Ram : yes, I saw Beckett's post on the CDM Suggestions BBS earlier .... and then later saw it was deleted. I suspect they are monitoring the basketball BBS for any posts they don't want. I wouldn't be shocked if they are monitoring this thread too, as they can see this site link on their own BBS. So, hello Charlie & Co. - if you are peeking !

Makes business sense for them and I can't fault them for that. By the same token, it makes sense for consumers to have alternatives as well......so no hard feelings, Charlie. Everybody's just acting in their own best interests the way I see it. I have a feeling we will see CDM baseball this year - just under new ownership.

I was able to back door a post to the suggestion board through last years budget basketball playoff game but it didn't last long. Apparently they can't say anything right now about what's happening but hopefully sometime in the near future (week or two?) we should know more.
Fantrax is pretty good and I've never had a problem with payouts (except one year they forgot to sign all their checks but they issued new ones pretty promptly) They certified mailed them so it cost them double postage. But its not the same feel as CDM and the leagues are mega stacked because they haven't been able to fill too many leagues there. Hopefully what ever is going on blows over and they can continue or let someone else continue.

If there are games at CDM in 2016, I think it's a forgone conclusion they will be under new owners.

Im thinking CDM may very well continue under new ownership. It took some time and effort to get the baseball salaries out.I don't think they would have bothered do so if they felt they couldn't continue(whether it be Charlie or someone new)

Catcher, great point. This might very well be an ownership change - something is going on legally where they can't talk (save for the standard answers) But the fact is that they are still operating. And if I were them, and they were going to continue operations, I can understand the BBS going dark so that it's not lending more weight to the competition (I came on board just after the last change, so I haven't gone through this) But for me, nothing is like CDM - I don't even want to think of an alternative to 2016 baseball. I just hope that when there is clarity, it's good for everyone, and we can continue to have this game going - I'm looking at those baseball salaries going 'should I be paying attention to this?' Cause I really want to.

Called CDM today. They said all they can say for sure is that they are not offering playoff football game. Nothing on baseball when I asked, said we should continue to check back.

Agree guys, nothing like CDM. The way the site is set up and the game run is just phenomenal. The fantrax game is fine, but the site just feels like a local league and it is really hard to navigate. CDM's site is so much more intuitive. As for moving forward, I'm starting to get a little more optimistic. If they were just closing shop with no questions asked, you would think they would just say it. They would have nothing to gain by being secretive. Would be sweet if they were partnering with a big guy, like they used to have with sporting news or usa today or whatever.

hi guys. This sure reminds me of the time we thought fanball was ending. Not a good feeling. But then maybe they are updating, selling out, who knows. no one seems to know yet to spill the beans....been playing since the sporting news years. That's how i found it. Gonna miss it if it's gone.

Glad I'm not the only one that found the Fantrax site difficult. Been playing CDM since the beginning. The first thing I thought was that CDM was being sold. I too think they needed to advertise more to keep new players coming in. Hope they drop the committee if it's new ownership. Committee members mostly raised the salaries of relievers so nobody could beat them with the cheap bullpen strategy. Unfair. That's my only gripe about CDM baseball challenge game.
